Organic additive technology (OAT)
Various names are used to describe this group of products: organic additive technology (OAT), silicate-free coolants, long-life or 'fill for life' and in France also type D-coolants.
An organic additive technology (OAT) coolant contains only organic corrosion inhibitors such as carboxylates and triazole.
Carboxylates used in OAT coolants have very low depletion rates. A molecular layer of inhibitors is formed on the metal surface and this only at the anodic sites where the potential of corrosion exists. These virtually non-depleting corrosion inhibitors give OAT coolants an extended life which for some customers can be for the lifetime of the cooling system or vehicle.
Arteco is the pioneer in OAT-liquid cooling. It was introduced in 1992.
